Colour Your World

If you are feeling down or coping with a life challenge, take yourself back to your childhood. Does anyone remember these things (I may be showing my age now)

Colouring books – pencils, crayons and paints Building with Lego – create a skyscraper Paper dolls and fuzzy felt Paper Mashe Making collages Music and dancing Playing dress ups with colourful clothes and jewellery

More and more evidence is becoming available to us on the healing qualities of creativity. That is, applying creative pursuits such as dance, painting and drawing, music and writing and poetry to increase the bodies’ ability to improve wellness.

The medical profession (doctors, nurses and therapists) are now working with artists and musicians to heal people of all ages with many conditions including cancer and AIDS.Healers have found that art and music, combined with traditional medicine are a powerful combination of tools. At the same time, artists and musicians have found that art and music heals themselves and others around them. The artists and musicians who have healed themselves of illness are changing the art and music they perform to become a healing tool.

People with life challenges in search of some personal growth, use art as a therapy and people with physical or mental conditions can find outlets for creativity to increase feelings of enjoyment.

In art and healing, the artist is you. No training is needed, the creative process itself is enough.

So, if you’re having a blue day – CREATE something. You may find a hidden talent!
