Many years ago, I realised I was spending quite a lot on beauty products – I may as well have had shares in the local department store beauty section! My world looks a little different now and I am always amazed at the results of using herbs and wholefoods in my beauty routine.

Herbs are natures gift to us. There is a growing awareness that incorporating herbs into our daily beauty routine is beneficial to the way we may look and feel without hurting the bank balance.

Herbs are some of the most effective allies in maintain our beauty routine. They are full of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, phytochemicals and essential oils.

It is no secret that the way to health glowing skin is to make sure your insides are healthy and glowing. Your liver, your kidneys and your bowels are a few of the most essential organs to keep in good shape.

Try these simple ideas and see what you think -

Skin tightening and instant lift: Add approx. 10 - 15 drops of Siberian ginseng extract and 10 - 15 drops of Kakadu plum extract to green tea (100ml) in a bowl. Soak a gauze in the liquid and place over your face for 45 minutes.

Skin pigmentation: Mix 50g of aloe vera gel with 5ml of acerola extract, 5ml of liquorice extract and 5ml of sea buckthorn extract. Apply this one every evening.

Cooling face mist: Take a bunch of mint and make a tea infusion. Allow to cool and chill it in the freezer. Pour into a glass spray bottle and apply to skin. Good for inflamed and irritated skin.

Anti-ageing: Gotu Kola has skin firming properties due to its ability to stimulate skin circulation. It can heal skin and rejuvenate it. It can also be effective in targeting cellulite.
