Having ‘meaning’ in your life is bigger than living with purpose. It is about finding a worthwhile contribution to make — whether this is in your work, in your community or in other ways.
Some of the things you may feel when you find that meaning:
Like you belong or feel connected, that you are a part of something bigger than yourself
You know that what you do for others is purposeful and purpose is about contribution
You know who you believe in and what you believe to be right for you
You have a ‘story’ about yourself which uses positive type language. That is, your self- dialogue. It might be something like “In my life I have been fortunate enough to have great friends” or “I have a career I am passionate about” or “I have been lucky enough to have been given amazing life lessons and I can now share those and have a positive influence in other’s lives”.
This year, why not take some time to investigate what meaning is for you. Let’s not get caught up in the social media frenzy of comparing our lives with others and rushing around filling our day with frantic tasks.
What is important to your life and how you live it?
